My internship at Labelium was one of the most rewarding work experiences I had so far. The team was amazing and the to-do lists were long.
On Mondays, I would have to do metric reports for our clients at Dior. I would go on Google Ads, extract the data from there and then insert it into a presentation template. A few weeks into my internship, my supervisor allowed me to write insights as well, analysing the data and explaining it to the client in bullet points. I loved this part the most as it was more interesting than a simple data transfer. With this specific client, my manager made it very clear that I couldn’t mess up. So no room for error, no room for one number being wrong or not up to date in our weekly reports.
Another one of my weekly tasks would be to monitor DeLonghi coffee campaigns with Brad Pitt called Perfetto. I went to Google Ads Library and had to take screenshots of each ad in a different part of the world for the clients to have an overview of what their competitor was doing.
The most common task I was assigned was to set up and launch Facebook and instagram Ads via the platform Facebook Ads manager for clients such as Seafolly and Breville. It took me a few weeks to feel fully comfortable with the platform, which came with a big responsibility… If I set up some ads incorrectly, they would be running all over Australia and New Zealand with errors! I liked this pressure a lot as it pushed me to pay attention to all the small details, which could be as unnoticeable as two space bars instead of one in a caption. This may not sound like much but seeing the final product (seeing the ads you created on your own instagram feed outside of work) was very rewarding.
Another important aspect of my internship was that I had to pass Google and Facebook certifications in order to teach me all the specificities of the platform. I have to say I did not enjoy this part so much, as I already had a lot of tasks to do and I had classes on the side as well. But once again, I am glad I did it because now I am Google and Facebook certified!
This said, I was doing so much operational work at some stage that I remember waking up and my to-do list being the first thing I thought about… This is when I realised I needed to focus on my work/life balance a lot more. I’m so glad I did because after doing so I was so much more productive at work.
My colleagues were really nice and we all got along well together. I was lucky enough to be able to have a Work Christmas Dinner with them all which was very enjoyable. I am still in contact with a few of them and am planning to go and visit them when I go back home. I got offered a job with the company once I graduate!
