What is it like to work at a production Company?

The Best of Both Worlds!

In a production company you will have super fun days working on set! Although there is a lot of waiting included between shots, there is always something to do and to discover. For example: Meeting with actors and TV hosts, small talking to the camera and sound guys, enjoying the catering and chilling in the sun included. Sometimes you even get to travel to different places or cities to shoot a show.

Yet, there are also some less active days in the office were you get all the behind the scenes action. What does it take to produce a show? What steps are needed? It is a long way from the idea until the finished result is ready. Usually it starts with an idea, then there is a lot of research, a lot of phone calls and even more organization needed. You cannot just go and shoot a show, an elaborate plan of each shot is needed to have enough interesting footage. And then you get to chill with the cutter and eat sweets while he is doing all the work. Thus, best of both worlds, being outside in action and getting the experience of a nine to five office job.

There is always something to do!

Busy is the key word here. There is never a day without any work. There is always a press release that needs to be finished, there are always topics that need a research and summary for the team, you can always come up with topics for content yourself, and there is always a show in the cut, where you can see what happened to camera footage you shot yesterday. And keep in mind you also need a lunch break to discuss the latest plans for the coming weekend.

Take your time to breathe!

With all the different tasks and topics that are handed to you, it is important to keep a clear mind and organize yourself. prioritize your tasks, speak to your colleagues, and ask for deadlines. And most importantly, try to not overwork yourself. Since there is always something to do, it can be overwhelming at times. Try to take one step at a time and schedule breaks. You do not need to be perfect. Remember, you are just an intern, nobody expects you to be perfect yet! 🙂
