From the very beginning since I started my internship at Audi China, I never could have imagined the possibilities that it could bring. Before entering Audi China, I was an intern at an internet company, which belongs to an industry with rapid growth. And things began to change from perspective to perspective after entering Audi China, a strong leading representative in the automobile industry.
Audi China is a subsidiary fully owned by AUDI AG. It has been 11 years since Audi China’s establishment in Beijing in 2009. The company takes responsibilities for business cooperation between AUDI AG, the Chinese company First Automotive Works (FAW Group) and the Joint-Venture FAW-Volkswagen (FAW-VW) and Saic Volkswagen(SVW).
As an intern in the product management department at Audi China, our group section mainly focus on Connected Car which is the soft service inside the vehicle but connected also with the application on mobile. With some insights gained from last internship, I quickly grasp the essence of product management in general and some thoughts regarding the development of connectivity service in automobile industry. This internship might provide some pictures regarding what it looks like to be a product manager applying corporate communication knowledge but somehow doing a job not intensively related to communication science area.
Two main tasks that I am managing are first, taking the management responsibility to take needs from marketing department and convert them to the technical department with feasibility monitoring and also being responsible for the progress tracking of each task being distributed in the conference.
Secondly, I am the product management interface with SVW regarding the connectivity service. Basic tasks including the process escalation of each service, internal and external alignments regarding each decision. I am organizing workshops systematically for each sections and departments involving Audi AG, Audi China, and SVW. Since situations regarding the pandemic is considered as relative safe in China, the meeting can be either online through Skype or offline in the form of face to face, and of course the compatibility of both.
This is indeed a precious opportunity for me to practice in the workplace and applying my knowledge learned from uni. Most importantly, through this internship, I strengthened my initiative and the sense of ownership and understood my perspective in this adventure. This internship has depicted a rather clear future development direction. It was this time that I realized the value of these creative and provocative work.
