Hello, party people!
My name is Jenny Alksnis Dagerlind, and I’m a second-year Communication Science student at the University of Amsterdam. For the past five months, I’ve been doing my internship as a Sales and Marketing intern for CrowdLED in Utrecht, just south of Amsterdam, and I’d love to tell you more about it!
CrowdLED is an event technology company that provides LED wearables such as wristbands and lanyards for concerts and events (yes, the ones that Coldplay and Taylor Swift use on their tours!). Despite being a small company with around 20 employees, CrowdLED operates on a massive scale, collaborating with the biggest artists in the largest arenas worldwide. Over the years, they have distributed wristbands to artists and events like Burna Boy, the Eurovision Song Contest, Bayern München Basketball, and King Charles III’s Coronation Concert.
With a heavy heart, I’m closing in on the end of these incredible months, which have helped me grow both professionally and personally. Not only was I introduced to one of the nicest teams imaginable, but I was also encouraged, challenged, and trusted in my work. Being an intern can be difficult to the extent you get to feel part of the team, as you are only there for a limited amount of time with limited responsibilities. Yet, CrowdLED surprised me with how much they wished to integrate me into the team. With this, I would like to take the opportunity to thank my Sales Manager and internship supervisor for being such an inspiration. Thank you, Lennart, for all the help and support you have given me during these months; it has meant the world to me.
As a Sales and Marketing intern at CrowdLED, my days were dynamic and filled with many different tasks. In the mornings, I started with managing the company info email, adding leads to the CRM system, and corresponding with suppliers and clients. My primary role was to support the Sales team, which involved creating tailored proposals, maintaining a streamlined Trello board, attending Sales meetings, and updating client materials. Creating the proposals for prospects was the highlight, as I got to dive deep into the event and learn more about the client’s needs and wants and how to fulfill them.
Before I let you go and read about the other exciting internships on this blog page, I just wanted to highlight the fun of working in the event business. Half a year ago, I had no idea what it meant to be working with events, and I don’t think I would have ever tried it if it wasn’t for CrowdLED. For example, I’ve had the chance to travel to Europe and North America during my internship to attend different events. I’ve been to Germany twice and Belgium once, and recently, I even visited Montreal, Canada, to see a client in a meeting. The beauty of working with events is the possibility to travel worldwide and meet many exciting and inspiring people and clients.
I hope this blog post gave some interesting insights into what being a Sales and Marketing intern at CrowdLED is like. These amazing months have been filled with new knowledge, connections, challenges, and laughs. If you think this sounds like an internship for you, I can only tell you to go for it, and I hope you will enjoy it just as much as I did.
Thank you for reading this. Feel free to contact me if you want to know more or have questions about my journey with the company.
Cheers,
Jenny
