It’s 8 am on May 23 and after over a month of preparation, my colleagues and I arrived in Zaandam to attend the Salesforce World Tour 2023. The Salesforce World Tour is a thought leadership event where leaders from all industries come together and share their insights on how businesses can sustainably lower costs, increase productivity, and drive efficient growth. There was a particular focus on AI and its possible applications to data and customer relationship management (CRM) this year.
Wunderman Thompson has built its reputation as a market leader in Salesforce solution implementation, and because of this, were invited as a platinum sponsor to speak about how we use Salesforce to drive growth to companies as well as share our new commerce solutions. Usually, this event is limited to mainly executive-level employees, but since I had helped the team prepare for the event, they decided to extend an invitation to me to help at our booth and to give me an opportunity to talk to different companies about the newest technologies in the world of commerce and CRM, something I have a great interest in.
At the event, my role was to speak to people that walked up to our booth about what Wunderman Thompson does, and the commerce offerings we decided to feature at the event. After explaining these things, my goal was to get their contact information so that we can start sending them emails about our offerings, with the hope that eventually they decide to partner with us on a project. I am very proud that I was able to execute my role to the satisfaction of my colleagues as they told me they have never gotten so many contacts from this event as they did this year.
Throughout the event, my colleagues allowed me to take a break which allowed me to attend some of the keynotes being offered. I went to the booths of companies like Deloitte, Accenture, Adyen, and Thuisbezorgd. They had fun games that helped showcase their offerings and the keynotes were extremely insightful and opened my eyes to the multitude of applications for the rapidly evolving technology in our world. There was also great food and interesting people from many different countries who were very friendly and happy to entertain my curiosity.
At the close of the event, drinks were served, and I was able to sit back, relax, and reflect on the day with my colleagues. I was grateful for the opportunity to sit in an informal setting and enjoy a beer with my colleagues. I was able to speak to colleagues I usually did not speak to and was able to get some advice on the next steps in my career as they were curious about what I was going to do next. May 23 was one of my favorite days during my time with Wunderman Thompson, I really enjoyed the level of responsibility I had and the opportunities to learn and meet new people, the free drinks also did not hurt.
