Marketing in the fashion industry : Something Borrowed intern

Something Borrowed. Most of you may not know Something yet but you surely will one day.

If you ever need an outfit for a special occasion or just to switch up your everyday closet there is the solution for you! This is how I would describe the company that gave me the chance to intern with them.

As I started looking for an internship I came across this very interesting opportunity of a social media marketing internship position. I mean fashion and social media, what a perfect combo.

During my internship I had to complete tasks such as creating content, organising events and communicating with different brands and influencers/content creators.

Making content is something that I love doing and I have always been creative with this so it was the very fun part of this internship and probably the part where I got to show my skills to my supervisor that had some difficulties creating content as they are not very comfortable with social media. Through this internship I was grateful that there was space for my creativity and that the company was listening and helping me develop my content creation idea as I was bringing some fresh and young ideas.

Furthermore during my internship I got to learn a lot about the importance of determination and organisation. During my intern time at Something Borrowed I had the chance to assist on the development of multiple events such as pop ups and conferences and photo shoots .Through my internship I have assisted in 4 pop ups and photoshoots. With these events happening I understood what it was like to be ready and sure about what you would like to sell. I have also learned a lot about the importance of social media to attract more targets and the importance of social media to communicate with our community.

Last but not least I have also seen the hard part of working with content creators or influencers. Before starting my internship I did not really understand how the communication and the agreement between brands and content creators were created but now this internship opened my eye on the subject. From the outside, it appears like all of these influencers are really simple to deal with. However, I’ve learned that it’s crucial to be explicit about what you want from influencers while working with them.

Something Borrowed was a startup business and was unaware of the significance of the contract and the level of detail required for the work. I’ve had the opportunity to help with several marketing initiatives and collaborative contracts for Something Borrowed throughout time.

In conclusion I would recommend to everyone to work with Something Borrowed as it is very interesting to see and work in a company that just started and that is learning from its mistake to grow. It is crucial to understand how it is before a company starts growing in order to be able to face all problems from the beginning before being big.
