Life in a start-up in Paris

Tuesday morning:

Wake up in a great mood, get ready for work go to the cafe downstairs, buy a croissant, drink a coffee, walk 10 minutes and get to the office. All your colleagues say hi. They are also in a good mood. Open your tasks for the day. You don’t have many because in fact the day before was productive enough to complete many of the tasks for the upcoming days.

It’s 11 o’clock and you have the first meeting with your boss for the week, he is happy with your work, and your colleagues praise your achievements. 12 o’clock you go to Lunch, a perfectly cooked filled mignon.

2pm arrive back in the office, you are basically done for the day so you use your mood to create great ideas for next communication campaigns. your work is excellent.
5.30 you are done with work and your Paris love comes to pick you up to have a romantic afternoon in Montmartre.

But then you wake up for real. it was all a Dream. In fact you ARE IN PARIS on a Tuesday and you are working in a start-up.

You wake up tired because the previous day you had to work extra hours because your colleagues and your boss and everybody is late with their work. it is a startup after all, so you are the one in charge of the research, content creation, and even web development. You don’t have breakfast because you woke up late, you actually live 30 minutes by metro, and even if it is the ‘best metro in Paris’ it is full, it stinks, and during summer with a mask. the neighbors at the office do not even say hi, perhaps they too woke up tired. Your boss calls you in for a meeting at 9 and its cool and in a start-up style but it takes 5 hours and you should be working on your tasks to meet the deadline.
1 pm you don’t have time to go and have any lunch, so you run to the boulangerie downstairs, where the bread is one of the dryest in the city and you buy the last 8 euro sandwich even if wasps were sitting on it. after 20 minutes you are back in front of the laptop trying to finish your tasks at least for that day. 7pm everybody is still in the office and no one wants to be the first leaving to avoid any confrontations with the boss. No body picks you up at work, because even that Paris love is having a bad day. ah! and the metro is having issues again.

But no worries, the first month weekend is coming, and there will be plenty of places where you can eat food from any place in the world you can ever imagine, drink happy hour beer for 3.50, and enter some of the most amazing museums you will ever see. And all of that will inspired you to start a new week where your work is full of positive challenges and where you are worth a lot!
