My time at EVBox was truly life-changing for me. It sounds cheesy, but I truly left a different professional than I came in. I have learned a lot about EV charging and electric cars, yes, but most importantly, I have learned how to put myself first and communicate my needs and limits without feeling like a lesser professional because I am doing so. My boss was truly a gem that I did not expect to meet in this lifetime; I didn’t know bosses like him existed. He was always concerned about me balancing my work-life balance properly and supported me when I chose to end the internship earlier than planned. I would say that if it wasn’t for him, this whole process would’ve been a lot harder – and it was quite hard already.
It was interesting to dive into a world that I had no knowledge of, that being electric vehicle charging stations and electric cars. It was challenging for sure, but scary at first – I definitely experienced a bit of Imposter’s Syndrome in the beginning. Again, though, my boss was very understanding and not expecting me to know everything about the subject from the get-go. There was plenty of time to complete the training and get used to the topics before I actually got to produce content.
I would definitely recommend this internship to others. I think EVBox is an amazing company with a lot of room for professionals to grow, and the company invests in its employees. Everyone is very friendly and ready to help in the office. I had no trouble finding interviewees for my research, even the Director of my team, Demand Generation and Marketing Operations, who is a really busy individual.
My research has found that, indeed, ChatGPT does have a spot in the workplace as a tool in the belt of every content creator, and to make the best use of it, we should give it as much input as possible, and elaborate on the prompts we are given. Asking for the bot to further elaborate when the output is insufficient is also helpful and can lead to good results. Overall, most participants understood that ChatGPT can only offer as much as it is given in the first place. Even though there was some fear of being replaced by AI in the future, most people seemed to agree that ChatGPT cannot produce content in the same creative and reliable way that the professionals at EVBox can.
My findings were shown at a Marketing team meeting at EVBox by my boss, which I was really happy about. I hope people can benefit from my research and my time at EVBox as much as I did.
