Internship at a research company during a pandemic!

Wouldn’t you like to get a close eye into scientific research? To identify and understand the customer’s pulse? To be the one that advices companies what kind of strategy to use, what weaknesses or strengths their products/services have, how to exploit their assets effectively and many more? Then, becoming part of a research company it is all you need!

I was lucky enough to gain some experience in a research environment. From April until September 2021, I have been working as a part-time intern in a company called MRB, Hellas. The company is located in Athens, Greece. Since Greece is my homeland, combining the life in my own city and working in a very prestigious company was a great opportunity for me! MRB has strongly contributed to the evolution of the Greek market research industry by introducing quantitative and qualitative solutions and offering research-based consulting.

However, at this point I must admit that internships in Greece are not that common, and thus doing my internship there was quite a challenge in the beginning. Greek employees are not that familiar with the idea of assigning tasks to a much younger and with zero experience student.  Therefore, you should have the confidence to be the ones asking for responsibilities.  Don’t even let me start with the Covid-19! Communication was not always easy and many efforts from my side had to be made when I was working remotely. Also, almost all employees have been working in this company for at least 10 years. As you can imagine, by now they’ve known each other so well that they could speak with their eyes closed. But I wasn’t…So, yeah you guessed it right! I was not able to speak with my eyes closed. And I’m not sure if they appreciated it that much…

However, I must say that I got pleasantly surprised by everyone’s dedication, concern and love they showed to their job. Since this is a Greek company it would not be easy for the majority of you to work there (unless you decide to learn Greek). BUT!!! Thanks to the company’s affiliation with Kantar Group, it is possible to work in their headquarters in London, UK.   Give it a thought!
