Interning at a Fertility Start-Up

I was the intern at ROSESTA MEDICAL BV, also known as FERTI·LILY and was based in Amsterdam. This company designed the FERTI·LILY Conception Cup to increase chances of conception.  My role at this internship was to create content for their Instagram profile, write articles for their website, search for influencers and be a contact point for the customers. This is my last week of my internship, and I feel that I have learnt a lot during these 5 months of interning for this company. The company itself is still a start-up, founded in 2019 and is quickly growing, being able to purchase their products in about 33 countries, and having a second fertility product released in a few months.

I started this internship at the start of the semester, needing to do 3 interviews and 1 assignment which was back in December. Luckily, I was chosen to intern for this company to start in February! I started off the internship getting a crash course introduction from the marketing manager.

The structure of this internship had a combination of at-home working and working at the office. Monday and Thursdays were office days, and the rest were at-home days. We worked from 9 to 5, five days a week. A normal office day would consist of arriving at 9 am, checking the social media dashboard, checking and answering customer questions, and having a chat with my co-workers. A lot of my day would consist of doing research to search for content ideas and articles. Once I had an idea for an Instagram post I would propose it to the marketing manager, draft up a visual and a caption, get a final check and its ready to go. I would schedule the posts in a program, and I aimed to post about 2-3 times a week. I would keep up a social dashboard to get a good idea of how each post was doing and which type of content would create more engagement. I feel that during this internship I was given a lot of responsibility and formed a lot of trust from the company to take things in my own hands and propose new ideas that I think would be good for the company and always felt taken seriously. As it is still a start-up, I feel the culture was not too formal and the relationships between all the employees were really strong.

All in all, I really enjoyed my internship and got offered to keep working there 1-2 days a week. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge from this internship and I am definitely going to keep working there for a while!
