Insights from my 4 month internship at LENA MAE & MAE.concept

During my four-month internship at fashion labels Lena Mae and MAE. concept, I had the opportunity to work in the dynamic world of startups. As a marketing intern, I experienced the bnefits of varied and engaging work, the empowering startup culture, and the sense of responsibility. However, I also faced challenges such as independence and limited resources. In this blog post, I will discuss the advantages and drawbacks of working for a startup, drawing from my experiences at Lena Mae and MAE.concept.

One of the most exciting aspects of working for a startup was the constant variety in my daily tasks. Unlike a traditional corporate setting, each day at Lena Mae and MAE.concept presented me with new and exciting opportunities. Whether I was creating engaging social media content or organizing events, I always had the chance to be involved in diverse projects. Working in the startup culture at Lena Mae and MAE.concept was also an incredibly inspiring experience. It was empowering to see how ideas were turned into actions quickly, and how everyone’s contributions were valued. Moreover, what truly stood out for me was the level of responsibility and ownership I was entrusted with, regardless of my intern status. In a small team like ours, my ideas and opinions were not only welcomed but also valued, making me feel like an integral part of the company’s growth.

While working at a startup was very energizing, it also demanded a high degree of independence. In such an environment, I quickly learned that I had to take initiative and be proactive in my decision-making, often having to research and find solutions on my own without constantly seeking guidance from my supervisor. Furthermore, being part of a startup also meant dealing with limited resources. While this encouraged creativity and resourcefulness, it sometimes presented challenges when executing marketing campaigns or organizing events with budget constraints. Additionally, the lack of well-established processes and structures occasionally resulted in confusion, requiring me to be flexible and open-minded. While this provided opportunities for creativity, it also led to uncertainty in certain situations which demanded a higher level of self-motivation.

In conclusion, my internship journey at both Lena Mae and MAE.concept has been a valuable and enjoyable experience. The dynamic, fast-paced environment of these startups offered me diverse challenges and learning opportunities. I would strongly recommend joining a startup to those who enjoy working independently and appreciate diverse challenges. It’s particularly beneficial for those interested in starting their own business, as it provides a first-hand insight into what it takes to build and grow a company from the ground up.
