Equals Amsterdam strives for equality! – An intern story

Hi everyone,

My name is Ha Thuc Nhi Nguyen (Nhi), currently a Community Management and Content Creation intern at Equals Amsterdam. It has been almost 3 months since I started and I have been enjoying the journey at Equals. Therefore, now I am writing this blog in confidence to give an insight into the company from the point of view of an intern.

About the company, Equals is a Strategic Management Service committed to creating an equal workforce by working with tech schools, companies, non-profits, and the government to achieve gender equality in technology and entrepreneurship. The organization has 3 main pillars, and as an intern, I have to be involved in all of the pillars.

The first pillar is called Visibility. Here, it means that we promote women role models through their campaigns and events. More specifically, on March 8 every year, Equals would launch a nationwide campaign to showcase women’s role models to inspire women all across the country. For this section, I was lucky enough to be able to make pictures for the campaign and I was also given the opportunity to travel across the country to do so.

The second pillar is called Women in Tech, in which we offer re-skilling programs with job guarantee and retention programs for women who are already in the field. I will be working more in this section in June, where I am required to work on the Mentor Program. The program will be about finding women who are already in tech to help the ones who will start soon in the field. I am in charge of communicating with companies, as well as making promotion posts to recruit women who will be working in tech soon.

The last pillar is about Community, in which we act as a host for a network of women. Currently, we have over 300 members at the Clubhouse. Other than that, we also host events related to women and women in tech. Our members will then get access to these events for free, as well as the right to come over to Equals and work at the Clubhouse. For this pillar, I am in charge of creating content to promote events, as well as being the bridge between Equals and the members to ensure everyone has a great experience with us.

All in all, as busy as it sounds, I really enjoy working here since everyday is not the same at Equals. I would definitely recommend doing your internship here at Equals.
