I woke up much too early this morning. Quite untypical for me, but I knew it was going to be a big eventful day. I was in the middle of my internship journey which also was the company’s peak season of the year-fun! I couldn’t complain though, everything was running smoothly and I was challenged to learn new things day by day. Today was a big day as the Black Friday weekend was coming up. This meant, launching six different campaigns and assuring everything runs smoothly. I was nervous but knew everything would work out well. I had to admit, being an intern at Albelli- Photobox group went surprisingly excellent. I felt comfortable and my work as an intern was greatly appreciated. I was more than happy to assist my team, the social and display team, in their daily operational tasks which kept me on my toes.
I am almost running late!
I quickly finish getting ready and hop on my Swapfiets. The cold morning air combined with my 30-minute bike ride to the office leaves me all a flutter. I am grateful for the elevator which brings me up to the 8th floor.
The elevator door opens and I can sense the overly absorbed minds of my co-workers. My floor is covered with different marketing teams- all striving for the same goal this day. I greet everyone and turn to my desk to start the day. On the agenda are a variety of tasks. I start with creating the remaining discount codes for the different vendors of albelli. It is quite cool that I am learning some words related to marketing in Swedish, Norwegian, French, and of course- Dutch. These are all the different markets in which I need to operate during my internship, google translate is my best friend most of the time. Once I double-check all discount codes and if they also work properly, I let my team know that one aspect is set.
In the meantime, my department makes their way down to the canteen where I join them for a nicely provided lunch. The snack and drinks room in the office is literally the cherry on top of a long day.
Moving on to the second half and usually a slightly dragging part of the day, I need to complete creating ad templates on the marketing platform Smartly. I am always nervous and excited to work on this platform, as it is connected to live campaigns that are currently running on Facebook and Instagram. A certain carefulness is always required and I need to assure all discount codes align with the correct ad creatives for each vendor. Sounds complicated, but you get the hang of it fairly quickly.
I can finally take a breather once the ad templates are all properly aligned per vendor. A feeling of success and achievement rushes through me. My team is happy with my work and I lean back for the first time today. I sense the whole department feeling more relaxed and talking to one another. From the looks of it- the Black Friday campaign is launched and everyone can take their last hour of work unwinding from this eventful day.
