Azerion Brand Licensing Internship

For my internship, I worked in the brand licensing department of an online gaming company, Azerion. Most of my duties included researching brands the company could approach to work with, brainstorming marketing plans and making pitch presentations for potential brand deals. A typical day consisted of me going to the office around 9:30 in the morning, checking any emails or messages I had and starting on whatever work I had planned for the week. I kept a notebook with me to summarize what I did each day and what I still needed to do to finish what I set out at the beginning of each week. I put just about everything from my internship into my notebook whether it was notes from meetings I attended, tasks my supervisor would give me, random interesting things I would come across in my research or just a simple to-do list.

After checking any emails, messages and my to-do list I would typically continue on whatever I had been working on the day before. Often this would be continuing to make presentations by continuing to refine the slides by making them more concise and easy to understand. On top of this, I would likely be doing research on a given brand, 2 that took a significant part of my time at Azerion were projects based around the Funko toy brand and the animation series Masha and the Bear. In researching and gathering information about these brands, I would look for things such as their main cash cow products/streams of revenue, target audience, how they became as popular and successful as they are, whether they already had a presence in the gaming space, and their prior marketing campaigns to get a sense of the tone of the brand. This would continue until lunch at 12:30, after which I would come back at 1 and either continue working on the same project or send it off to my supervisor if I was finished.

Especially for earlier in the week, on the days my supervisor was also in the office we would have a meeting to go over what my tasks were for the week and discuss what I had done last week. This became less of a frequent event the further into my internship I got as my supervisor trusted me to work independently more as long as I submitted my work each week and kept communication open via Slack. Later in the day it was sometimes hard to keep focused so to help counter this, after a while I would move on to a new project after lunch to keep myself engaged. This helped immensely with breaking up the more monotonous days and kept me on my toes. Overall, this was a good internship that I feel I got a lot out of and certainly helped me to develop personal and professional skills I’ll carry with me moving forward.
