As the media landscape keeps changing and technology evolves into a deeper adoption of AI resources, it has struck me as ingenious that an internship at a communication agency has allowed me the opportunity to test-drive different areas of interest in the multi-faceted field that is communication and media
These past months have been a truly transformative experience that has provided me with an insight with regards to the type of career that I would like to follow and pursue.
The opportunity to rotate through different departments within the agency allowed me to experience the uniqueness of working with people that have distinct personalities and come together, collaborating effectively in a variety of work dynamics. The curious thing about working with people that are so different from each other is being exposed to their different ways of approaching tasks and learning which kind of approach is best suited to my personality. An attitude of adapting and being versatile were highly encouraged.
Initially I had expected to be working with a mostly national client roster but was pleasantly surprised to find that because I am bilingual, I was placed in teams that catered to a wider international client base. This experience was extremely worthwhile as it allowed me to expand my horizons and largely broadened my knowledge of the global communication and media landscape.
This experience revealed to me that I thrive in roles where I can wear man different hats. Initially I felt strongly inclined to pursue a data analysis route in media but when shadowing the events team, I grew a deep passion for brand activation and coordinating product launches.
As I look to the future, I feel confident that this internship has furthered my belief that this field is the right field for me and I can’t wait to fully embrace a future of multiple professional hats.
