Interning at The Conscious Club in Amsterdam, or “the showcase of the sustainable future”, has been one of my best work experience as I have learned the most in this company. The club was created to answer the rise in global consciousness that is happening around us, responding in a more spiritual and sustainable lifestyle. It offers a sacred space, a transformational learning and a life-centre to awaken mind, body, and spirit through yoga, meditation, breath work, dance, sound, ceremonies, workshops and events.
Interning in a small company easily gives you an insight on all of the departments as well as learning very quick, on a lot of subjects. It also allowed me to tailor my experience on what I wanted to learn and dive the most into. This is what my day would look like as a Communications and Marketing Intern:
At 10AM, I would arrive at the office where I would meet with the two owners and the other interns around coffee, and brainstorm about what the day would look like, as well as what the priorities of the day were. A typical brainstorm would be about administrative daily tasks that I was responsible for, as well as marketing tasks.
At 1030AM, I would start my day updating the sales sheets, updating links for bookings on different platforms, checking with the team I was responsible of for improvements and questions, checking and responding to emails, organising the schedule of classes and the team for the week, and check on any “hands on” to-do’s of the day.
Around 2PM, I would have lunch while enjoying the space and people.
At 230PM, I would start the marketing part, firstly consisting of checking the last posts’ interactions, replying to customers on social media etc… Then, I would have to find nice and fitting pictures/videos that the company could use on their social media and that would fit with the stories of the day. I would then create content, mainly on Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. The content could range from special announcements for the community, special offers, stories for the daily program, weekly programme, or creating nice ads for upcoming events in order to present the teacher and the activity and sell more tickets. Before ending the day, I would program any new created posts and stories made that day and post on social media.
About 6 times a month, I also trained potential new members of the team which would take about 5 hours of my day. I very much enjoyed doing those as I met like-minded people I was potentially going to work with and always had a great time showing around and presenting the company.
At 630PM, I would close everything, pack my bag, and sometimes attend a class!
I felt good at the end of the day, knowing that I had contributed to something I was proud to be part of, while collaborating with awesome people.
