Hello!
During my internship from February to June 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of Dolphin Marine, an esteemed company specializing in technical disruptions within the production processes of industrial and offshore companies, among others. What sets Dolphin Marine apart is its meticulous problem analysis and structured approach, often combining electrical and mechanical techniques to devise innovative engineering solutions.
Now, allow me to take you on a journey through a typical day of a marketing and communications intern at Dolphin Marine.
The day begins bright and early at 6:30 am. After preparing myself for the day, I head to Station Sloterdijk, eager to catch the 7:45 am train to Heerhugoward. Arriving at the office promptly at 9 am becomes a ritual, and I enthusiastically greet my supervisor and fellow co-workers before settling down at my designated desk.
Around 9:15 am, my supervisor approaches me to discuss the tasks I had worked on the previous day. He outlines a plan for completing those tasks and introduces an exciting new project for today. I am thrilled to learn that I will create a brand book for Dolphin Marine, inspired by a similar book from another engineering solutions company. The morning is filled with inspiration as I give the project my whole attention. I started to create a draft for the brand book after arming myself with creative resources. Knowing that this project would be crucial in developing Dolphin Marine’s brand identification fills every step with determination.
A quick break for lunch starts at around 12:30 pm which always allows for interesting conversations with co-workers from different departments. Every lunchtime is pleasurable because the team’s friendships generate a welcoming and inclusive environment.
I continue to work after lunch by attending a meeting of the marketing team. Each team member contributes worthwhile knowledge and suggestions for ongoing initiatives. I value these brainstorming meetings because they provide me with a chance to share my perspectives and learn from knowledgeable individuals.
After the meeting is finished I get back to working on my task of building the draft of the brand book. As the day progresses I have quick check-ins with my supervisor and trips to the kitchen to make tea to keep me going throughout the day.
At 5:00 pm, as the day winds down, I take a last stroll around the office, exchanging cheerful goodbyes with my colleagues. The sense of accomplishment fills me as I prepare to leave.
Reflecting on my time at Dolphin Marine, I am grateful for the chance to be part of a team that values creativity, innovation, and togetherness. The exposure to real-world marketing challenges has enriched my understanding of the field and prepared me for my future endeavours!
This day in the life at Dolphin Marine embodies the spirit of my internship experience—a blend of learning, growth, and meaningful connections. I am thankful for the invaluable lessons and friendships I learnt during this journey.
