A Day as Intern

I started my internship at 2AssistU in September 2023. 2AssistU is a recruitment company focusing mainly on clients in the professional services industry. The company is a modern company with only female employees. In this blog I will describe what a typical day looks like.

My workday starts at 9 A.M. As everyone who is working at 2AssistU gets their own electric bike. My journey to the office is only a relaxed 20 minute bike ride. As I do not want to be rushed or too late, I always arrive early. This means I have to wakeup at 6 AM as it takes more than two hours to do my makeup and look at least a bit decent before I leave home. When I arrive at the office, I start my day with a little chitchat over a cup of coffee with the other employees that are already there.

As soon as I get settled behind my laptop, I start my work with reading and answering my emails. I also access our recruiting system where all information is logged about open positions and candidates. This system is the basis to stay up to date with everything that is going on, so I start reading all the new notifications I got from this system.

My internship host arrives mostly a bit later at the office as she is often stuck in traffic. As she sits next to me, we discuss, as soon as she arrives, the important tasks for the day and where our focus should be on. After this short meeting, we continue to work searching for suitable candidates for our open assignments.

Every day we have lunch, made by one of the employees, at 12.30. When it is my turn to prepare lunch, I go to the kitchen at 12:00 and start cooking. We always have a fresh and luxurious lunch which I really enjoy. We often eat healthy things like beet salads, pasta and couscous. At 12:30 everyone comes to the kitchen downstairs, and we have lunch, with the whole team, at a long table in the board room. I really like it that we, as we have a relatively small office team (14 employees), are able to lunch with the whole team together and have the opportunity to speak to everyone in the team.

After lunch we often go, when the weather allows us, for a short walk around Vondelpark before we get to work again. During the day I also have several meetings. Normally I have a lot of meetings related to marketing and social media. Here we create LinkedIn Campaigns or TikTok videos. As marketing and branding is one of the greatest priorities of the company, we spend a lot of time on this. Further, I also often have meetings with the founder of the company, to discuss the things I am working on. During my internship I have found that this non-hierarchic and open working structure is really something I prefer.

I end my day with a check-out with my internship host and write down my to-do’s for the next day so that I don’t forget any. After this, I leave the office around 17.30 together with my fellow colleagues and call it a day.
