Every day starts the same. Wake up at 7:30 AM, get ready, and rush to make it to the office by 9:00 AM. Today, the sun was out and the days with constant rain were over. Once at the office, my day starts as I log into my computer and go through my emails. As an intern, going through the marketing inbox is a priority. Every day the inbox is different; influencers looking for PR stays, press feature inquiries, and people selling their products and services to the hotel are the most common emails we receive. Recently, we got an inquiry to be featured on a campaign being done by the magazine Condé Nast Traveller. Today, was the day of the campaign shoot. Since I am partially in charge of the inquiries, I became the main person in contact between the marketing team and the Condé Nast Team. For me, this meant organizing the campaign shoot that would take place and assisting them the day of the shoot. Today was that day.
After going through my emails, I had an idea of what my day was going to look like. I was lucky today that I did not have a busy schedule. First, I decided to work on the PR event that I am organizing. It is in collaboration with Shaggies Rugs and it will be a tufting workshop. The hotel was looking to host a tufting workshop. Due to a lack of sales of the event, they decided to make it into a PR event to gain exposure for the event. I was given the task of organizing this event. Today, what I had to do was follow up on invites, we had not received many responses but that can happen. I also had to get in contact with the people from the other departments to let them know about the event and to ask about the setup and the food and beverage options for the event.
The day of the shoot went smoothly and was very simple. It was entertaining to assist and gain an insight into what a campaign shoot is like, especially with a magazine like Condé Nast Traveler. My PR manager was at the shoot as well to provide support. He even participated in the campaign as a hand model to pour the champagne. Overall, it was a simple, quick, and smooth shoot.
The rest of my day was not very eventful, my other teammates were working from home due to the heat except the other intern; we can not work from home since we do not have laptops, only PCs. I went through the rest of my work which was errands like gaining measurements and making collaterals (designs on Indesign). It was a chill and good day at W.
