Hi all! My name is Sandra Dimbel, and I am a second year Communication Science student at the UVA.
Starting from April to July 2024, I had an opportunity to work as an intern at Alexela AS.
AS Alexela is an Estonian company primarily engaged in the energy sector. It is an Estonian leader in sustainable energy, emphasizes on eco-friendly initiatives, delivering energy as a service tailored to customer needs and dynamic urban environments. Alexela operates within the AVH Grupp AS group, which is a holding company, whose main activities are carried out through its subsidiaries and affiliated companies in three main areas: energy, metallurgy, and oil shale chemistry.
I was working as a Marketing Intern assistant and my responsibilities consisted of compiling and organizing the content of AVH Group’s new website and organizing the Kiviõli Keemiatööstus (KKT) website and bringing it into line with the group’s new corporate visual identity (CVI), which is a company belonging to the AVH group and its main activities are oil shale extraction and the production of shale oil, thermal energy and power. Additionally, I was made responsible for updating the websites of other subsidiaries/affiliates of the group in accordance with the valid CVI of the group. My other responsibilities include managing activities related to marketing according to the tasks assigned by the CEO. Lastly, I am required to report the results and progress of my work on a weekly basis.
My average work day consisted of daily meeting, where I was updated on the websites’ progression and was also taught how to use WordPress. During the day I was editing and creating website contents, such as texts and other entries together with optimising the layout. By the end of the day I was supposed to present to my boss about my achievement and my progress with the tasks given. I also received plenty of feedback throughout the day, which greatly helped me to reflect on my performance and incorporate it into future projects. Most importantly, whenever I asked for any advice or help, all of my colleagues were very eager to help and tried accommodating me to their best ability, which created an amazing workplace environment.
Based on this internship experience, I can confidently say that I would definitely work in the field of energetics in the future, since the marketing field is very specific and diverse and I would also recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a completely new outlook on marketing.
