A Day in the Life at L’Oréal Benelux

Working at L’Oréal Benelux in the Consumer Products Division is as exciting as it is dynamic, offering me a different routine everyday. While things are always changing, this blog can give some insight into what a more typical day may look like.

The day kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp. The first stop for many, including myself, is the coffee bar downstairs. A freshly brewed coffee sets the tone for a productive day ahead. With coffee in hand, it’s time to collect internal orders at the reception desk. Every week, new orders may come in with products for internal and external events, influencer campaigns, and influencer gifting.

After collecting the orders, it’s time to head to the communications product room. This space is where all products are stored, from the latest skincare launches to classic haircare favorites. Organizing the product room is a crucial task, making sure everything is neatly arranged and easy to find. It involves a bit of inventory management, ensuring that all products are accounted for and in good condition. While in the product room, I collect anything that needs to be sent out today. I make sure I have all names and addresses, make the post labels, collect everything and head downstairs to our post office. Here I pack everything neatly for smooth shipping. With some time left before lunch, I make sure to check whether there are any updates on any of the campaigns that require my support, for example whether any content needs to be checked.

By now, it’s time for a well-deserved break, so I head down to the cafeteria for lunch with my colleagues. At the end of the lunch period, I might decide to go to the office store and do a little shopping for myself. After lunch, it’s back to work. The first task is to delve into an analysis that reveals our brand positioning online. The aim is to understand how L’Oréal’s brands are perceived and identify opportunities for strengthening their market presence.

Next up is a creative session with a graphic design agency to work on the concept for an influencer seeding box. This is a fun and collaborative task that combines marketing strategy with creative design. The seeding box needs to be visually appealing and memorable, leaving a lasting impression on influencers and their followers. As the day winds down, it’s time to check in with the brand managers. Today’s discussion revolves around the location for an upcoming event. This involves going over logistics, potential venues, and ensuring everything aligns with the brand’s image and objectives. It’s a critical step to ensure the event will be a success.

Before I leave, I see that I have gotten feedback on a press release from the scientific department. I rework the feedback and send the final version to one of the brand managers to check. Afterwards, I respond to any emails I might have missed, and I prepare a to-do list for the next day. Working at L’Oréal Benelux is never dull. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to grow, learn, and contribute to the success of several world-renowned brands.
