After a few weeks, I finally got used to working in the office. As I have never worked in such an environment before, it took me some time to adjust to corporate life and Lyon. I created quite a routine for myself, which also served as a basis for today.
I arrived at the office around 8 minutes earlier; punctuality means a lot to me. I had become so good at leaving my house at the same time that I recognized I had crossed the same wave of green light on my way every day. I usually start my shift with a cup of fresh tea and chat with colleagues while settling in. I also like to check my Slack for any updates on previous work, although in the beginning, I often needed to remember to follow up with tasks.
On this very typical day, around 10, I had a meeting with Nathalie, my supervisor. This is important as we have a short session about my weekly performance at the end of each week. It helps me gain an overview of my responsibilities and achievements. Nathalie is always kind to me and often compliments my work output; I am grateful that she also comments on how to improve my workflow and gives a heads-up for next week’s tasks. My work and efforts are appreciated, which motivates me even more, but I am still happy it’s Friday, and I can rest over the weekend.
Before lunch, I started continuing one of my projects. I have been writing about my first experience with our application’s beta version. I am happy to share my feelings and insights about Petits Pas’ user interface and features. It’s exciting and makes me feel that my input and opinion are always welcome.
After having lunch with the team around 12, I continued to dive into the work and content creation. Later, I had a meeting with Marion, who also works in the communication team. I quickly showed her messages I created for Instagram and online blogs; she is a professional in social media communication. At university, I often researched topics related to social media, but working with Marion gave me a real-life experience in creating and engaging a community consistently online.
I am done with all the meetings and will continue with sending messages, and checking Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. I often use these platforms to engage our community and attract more people. I believe in Petits Pas revolutionizing mental health, so talking about it and discussing its details with influencers, coaches, and groups online is a rather enjoyable task for me.
When I feel tired or unable to stare at the screen, I take a short walk in the office. I never thought sitting at a desk all day would be challenging. Nevertheless, I love feeling accomplished when I stand up from the desk after a long week. But I have to go now, it’s time to get ready for the weekend and enjoy the city while I can.
