Rituals is a brand that’s hard to miss. It’s everywhere you look. Rituals shopping bags can be spotted on bustling streets worldwide and it’s quite likely that at some point in your life, you’ve received a Rituals gift set. However, many people are unaware that Rituals was born right here in Amsterdam, in a tiny basement apartment by the canals.
Hi there, I’m Malena, and I’m excited to take you behind the scenes of my internship journey at Rituals, specifically within the Trade Marketing team. When I first applied for this internship, I confess, I had little idea of what to expect. I envisioned numbers, spreadsheets, perhaps even some financial analysis. Little did I know, my journey would be way more creative and dynamic than expected.
Trade marketing, as I’ve come to learn, is a nuanced blend of strategy and relationship-building, geared particularly for online partners like Douglas, Sephora, and even the iconic de Bijenkorf here in Amsterdam. Every day brings a new challenge and potential for growth, from managing stakeholders to creating compelling campaigns, it never gets dull!
One of the highlights of my internship has been the opportunity to contribute to the creation of Rituals’ upcoming Christmas and summer campaigns. Seeing how much effort and planning goes in creating these campaigns has been a great learning experience.
But it’s not all about brainstorming sessions and strategy meetings. From time to time, I would go on store visits with my supervisors, to meet staff and discover the real-life setting where our concepts are brought to reality. It is here that crucial insights are obtained, by seeing directly how our displays and marketing materials are perceived by both shop employees and customers.
But my favorite part was the workplace environment. Nestled in the nicest streets of Amsterdam, the Rituals headquarters radiate warmth and conviviality. Coffee dates are common, with coworkers gathering in the different lobbies to exchange ideas and share experiences. I’ve never felt hesitant to ask questions or reach out to individuals in higher positions. The culture of openness and collaboration fosters a learning environment where everyone’s opinion is appreciated and heard.
All in all, my internship with Rituals was a journey of discovery and development. From navigating the complexities of trade marketing to witnessing the company’s dynamic culture firsthand, it’s an experience I’ll remember and value.
So, if you’re looking for an internship that provides more than just professional development, look no further than Rituals!
