Tastes behind wine-tasting: A Day in the Life of as Communication Intern

When sipping away at a wine-tasting event, have you ever wondered what it’s like to be behind the scenes? Well, buckle up and pour yourself another glass because I’m about to take you on a journey through a day in my life as a communication intern, prepping for my first event during my internship – Easter Feaster.

Morning: The Calm Before the Storm

My day starts around 8 am, fueled by a strong cup of coffee and some nice tunes to get me in the zone. I am meeting my team directly at the event venue to finalize plans for the event. First on the agenda: a team meeting to go over the schedule for everything: from food to content. From here, everyone is set off to their tasks. Then, we finalize the posters and send them for printing.

Mid-Morning: Food Glorious Food

Next up, it’s all about the food. What’s a wine tasting without some delectable bites to complement those fine vintages? There are final confirmations for the bread pickup and other delicious dips in making. My task is to coordinate with the chefs and ensure that everything is picture-perfect for our social media content. Without getting in the way of the chefs, I start shooting content according to the shot list for our first reel – food preparation.

After ensuring the reel materials are secured, I also snap a few behind-the-scenes photos of the chefs at work, capturing the artistry that goes into every dish. These little glimpses are gold for our Instagram stories. Authenticity is key, and people love seeing the magic happen in real time.

Lunchtime: Creative Fuel

Lunchtime is a quick break with the team and delicious treats from an authentic Asian bakery in Chinatown. We gather around the table, sharing laughs and ideas. The camaraderie and shared passion for creating unforgettable experiences make all the hustle worth it.

Early Afternoon: Shooting Content

With our bellies full and spirits high, it’s time to get back to work. The venue is starting to come together beautifully, with elegant décor and twinkling lights setting the perfect mood. I grab my camera and begin shooting content for the second reel – venue. The goal is to capture the essence of the event – the anticipation, the elegance, and the vibe.

I film the details of the décor without revealing too many details of the design with collaborated artists. Close-up shots of the tableware, the sets and flowers catching the light, are a must. It’s all about creating that sensory experience through the screen, making our audience feel like they’re part of the celebration.

Late Afternoon: The Final Touches

As the day winds down, the final touches are put in place. The food is ready, the wine is chilled, and the venue looks stunning. I make one last round with my camera, capturing the spontaneous beautiful sunsets shining on the table.

Then I start editing the content from today for prompt posting. Timeliness is crucial in the social media world. A well-timed post can generate buzz and get people even more excited about the event, and hopefully higher engagement. The rest of the content will be curated and posted throughout the event, keeping our followers engaged and craving more.

The Wrap-Up of the Day

After getting approved for posting the first reel from my supervisor, I finally headed home and continued to look for some inspiration for shooting the event. Being a communication intern is a whirlwind of creativity, collaboration, and yes, a bit of chaos. But it’s also incredibly rewarding. Each event is a new adventure, and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Cheers to that! 🍷
