Internship at a Performance Marketing Agency

Hi there, my name is Lara Behlil. I am a second-year student at UvA for Communication Science, and I currently finished my internship. I completed my internship at Creative Clicks from the 1st of February to the 1st of May. I took on the Marketing and Communication intern role during my internship. The company in question is a performance marketing company with a broad portfolio, but I was in the internal part of the company that deals with the Marketing and Communication of the company itself.

A typical day at Creative Clicks involves going to the office anywhere from 8 to 9:30 in the morning. I liked being at the office a bit earlier, so I would usually come between 8:30 and 8:45. I enjoyed the quietness in the morning, I would also get myself some coffee and then start my workday by checking emails, and answering messages on the company’s social media accounts. In addition to the main company, I also needed to check the social media accounts of the other companies that are in a way, related to Creative Clicks. This would usually not take too much of my time in the morning, however, in the past few months, there has been some kind of situation, where scammers appropriate the name of the company to fraud people. To deal with the situation, I helped the team come up with different answer templates that we could provide to those affected. In addition to this, everytime I ran into a message regarding the scam (which was almost everyday), I needed to screenshot and include the details in a folder that was later sent to the police.

Once replying to everyone was done, I would usually go on different agenda websites we had, and check the tasks that had to be done during the day. This involves creating captions, creating briefs, creating content, and thinking about other fun content ideas. I also sometimes have to read through articles and create ideas for carousel posts. In addition to this, I was also in charge of posting the content on all the social media channels of the company. To do so, I would use Loomly, a social media management tool. After posting I also need to repost the post as a story or post the story format that the design team provided. My position required a lot of communication with the team. Especially with the design team, we would have a very back-and-forth communication to fix everything that might be wrong.

All my tasks were not just done on a computer though. Sometimes I would join brainstorming sessions about possible events to have at the company. I would also help the HR department in organizing these events. After a long day of working, I would usually head home around 17:00, unless it was a Friday then I would stay for the company’s Friday drinks.
