From doubt to discovery: My internship experience at JetSupport

Choosing the right career path might be an overwhelming question for many students. Well, I was not an exception. One year ago, I was still wondering about my future, I even questioned whether a career in communications was the right fit for me…

Little did I know that one step into the aviation world can completely change the situation. For this reason, I would like to share my personal experience and hopefully inspire you to find your passion too!

I stepped into JetSupport as the communications and marketing intern at their base office in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. In short, JetSupport is a trusted European provider of technical support services and solutions for business aviation and special-purpose aircraft.

From the moment I walked through the doors of JetSupport, I was greeted by a team of passionate individuals who willingly showed me around the hangars full of business jets and dedicated employees, explained the operations and all the processes in detail. Well, it did not take long for me to be swept away in the excitement.

As I went deeper into my role, I quickly realized that communications and marketing might be it! I started by creating communications tactical plan and later proceeded with content creation. My daily tasks included writing posts and longer texts for the website, designing online and offline advertisements and picking the right channels for distribution, taking photos for social media and the official pages, editing them. During this internship, I discovered the power of storytelling and the opportunities within the business aviation sector. Next to that, I had a chance to work on a project of filming video series about aircraft maintenance operations showing the work company does to the public, which was truly inspiring as this concept was new to the industry.

During my internship, I not only developed professional skills but also had the possibility to meet a lot of interesting people which showed me that anything is possible if you really want it.

In conclusion, I would say that my experience at JetSupport was not just a learning experience, it was the turning point that helped me find my passion for both communication and marketing and the aviation industry! It showed me that when you combine your interests with the right environment amazing things can happen! Therefore, if you are still unsure about whether to do an internship or not, I would say take a chance as it might be an opportunity to find what you were looking for!
