Hello everyone!
I want to share my personal experience as a Marketing intern at Tubble, a thriving start-up based in Amsterdam. My goal is to provide insights and connect with fellow interns, helping them navigate their own internship journeys.
I eagerly started my internship as a Marketing Intern at Tubble. Today, as I reflect on my time here, I realize how much I’ve learned and grown in just a few months. I want to share some key takeaways that I believe will be helpful for future interns at start-ups/scale-ups:
Embrace the opportunity for personal and professional growth within a close-knit team. Being an intern at Tubble, a start-up with a small team, allowed me to experience firsthand the incredible learning potential in such an environment. The close collaboration and shared responsibilities meant that I had exposure to various aspects of the business. From marketing to operations, I quickly realized the value of being proactive and adaptable. This dynamic setting taught me the importance of taking initiative, being resourceful, and actively seeking opportunities to contribute and learn. In a small team, every member’s contributions are significant, making it an ideal space to absorb knowledge and make a meaningful impact on the company’s growth.
Embrace the start-up culture and its challenges. Working in a start-up means being part of a small team where collaboration and teamwork are paramount. At Tubble, our office is located in a vibrant shared space on Prinsengracht. The close-knit work environment allows for easy collaboration and fosters a sense of community. It’s important to embrace the fast-paced nature of a start-up and adapt to the ever-changing landscape. I quickly realized that the start-up environment requires flexibility and adaptability. Things can change rapidly, and it’s crucial to embrace new tasks and responsibilities with an open mind. The ability to adapt to new situations and take on challenges is an invaluable skill that will serve you well in any future career.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions. One of the most valuable lessons I learned at Tubble is that asking questions is never a sign of weakness. The team at Tubble encourages curiosity and appreciates interns who show genuine interest. I found that by asking questions, I not only gained a deeper understanding of my tasks but also opened up new opportunities. The projects I worked on originated from my own intiatives and motivation.
Make connections and build your network. In a start-up, you have the opportunity to work closely with talented individuals who share your passion for innovation. Take advantage of this and connect with your colleagues. Building relationships and expanding your professional network can open doors to future opportunities. The shared office space at Prinsengracht also allows for the possibility to meet inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds.
I hope my reflections from my internship at Tubble can provide some insights and inspiration to future interns. Remember to make the most of your experience, embrace challenges, and forge connections. Good luck to all the interns embarking on their own exciting journeys at start-ups. Enjoy every moment and seize the opportunities that come your way!
