My internship at Yamaha Motor Europe started at the beginning of September. Yamaha Motor is one of the largest sellers of motorized products including motorcycles and marine products and is a constant part of the motor market in over 180 countries around the world.
Yamaha Motor was founded in 1955 in Japan and expanded continuously since then.
Yamaha Motor Europe Headquarters which is located in Schipol Rijk represents Yamaha’s mission and products throughout 40 countries and I was lucky enough to be part of the 1800 employees working in this location.
Come to work with me
A usual workday at Yamaha motor Europe starts at 9:00 and goes until 17:30. This sounds long but the lunch with colleagues, the coffee breaks, and of course also the exciting working tasks let the days fly by. A typical day in the office started with me checking my emails and discussing with my colleagues the to-dos for the day.
As I worked in the corporate communication department, I was part of the planning of corporate events (which were always very fun and informative & very good food), writing and planning the publishing of new PR, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and creating new communication strategies for the company and much more.
How is the work environment at Yamaha Motor
I felt like I was a consistent part of the corporate communications team right from the beginning.
My team was always there if I had a question, and I was in the beginning sufficiently introduced to e.g. Excel and other softwares which I would need during my internship.
As mentioned, before I was directly a consistent part of the team, and that comes also with responsibilities.
I was directly “thrown” into the first task with an event happening on my third day on which I had to produce content. for the marketing and corporate department. Besides that, I shortly after had to write my first press release and was always helping with new tasks which came up daily.
While I entered the internship with a bit of fear about whether I will manage to fulfill all the tasks that I was given, this fear was quickly taken from me. Before every task, I was briefed by one of my colleagues and I realized pretty quickly that I could just quickly go to one of their desks or give them a quick call and they would help me right away.
The End
My internship ended in January 2023 and I can recommend this internship to whoever is eager in learning more about the corporate communication work-life and the Yamaha Spirit.
I left this internship gaining a lot of new experience about real work life while continuously learning new skills and getting to know new connections. I am excited about what comes next and I am sure that everything I have gathered from this internship will help me in what comes next.
