Mak Tinjic – A Tuesday at the GABV
May 24th, 2022
Global Alliance for Banking on Values – Marketing and Communications Intern
I wake up around 8:45, to prepare for my weekly team meeting at 9:30. Waking up at 8:45 is just enough for me, as I like to be as fresh as possible before my team meeting. My routine will usually consist of brushing my teeth, washing my face, then eating some breakfast as well as drinking coffee and lots of water. Here I take in some of the benefits of working an internship remotely, as I am able to do all these things stress-free in the comfort of my home. Around 9:25, I make sure my desk is clear and I have a stable internet connection to join my meeting. It is 9:30 now and I am in a meeting with my colleagues. The meeting is usually an hour long, however, I only usually speak for a brief 2 minutes, introducing my weekly “key priorities”. Nonetheless, I am present for the entirety of the meeting even though some topics may not directly concern me.
The meeting is finished at 10:30, but I have another one coming up soon, at 11:00. This is a quick meeting with my marketing colleagues, just checking in with each other over the week’s tasks. Once this meeting is done, I continue working on my tasks. This includes creating content, drafting social media posts, and uploading content onto the GABV Community Space. The Community Space is a “LinkedIn” like platform, on which GABV members can share and collaborate with one another. The 5 months of my internship have and will involve a lot of work in the Community Space. I also receive an overview of the tasks I need to do on which platform, through the content calendar. Here, I receive an overview of what to post on social media or the Community Space each day. Checking the content calendar is something I do every single day.
The next couple of hours I will spend working on and finishing my tasks, until 15:00. As this is not a regular Tuesday, I have another meeting at 15:00, another team meeting, but this time with the GABV regional representatives from across the world. This is usually a very long meeting, from 15:00 to 16:30, as we hear inputs related to values-based banking from across the world. Once the meeting is done, I have about half an hour left until the work day is done. I am gonna go check up on the drafts I have been working on, have one more look if anything needs to be scheduled for the next day, and conclude my work day. I am going to continue the same pattern more or less the next day on Wednesday, just with fewer meetings.
